I snorked this from *Mercuralis...I just thought it was a cool idea to feature the people who give me the fuel to keep going. The ones who are always there to give me words of encouragement and welcome me back after all my long absences. So, without further ado, some spectacular work by my beloved DA friends:
Argh!!! Okay, so I'm working on a digital painting - decided to pick up where I left off with this little ditty (gladly, it looks much better now!), but for every step I take forward, I find myself three steps back (cliches are fun!).
Okay, here's the deal - I can't flipping figure out what to do with my brushes. I am just clueless. They never do what I want them to do, so what I wind up doing is painting a huge swath of color and then erasing away what I don't want. Pretty back assward, and mind-numbingly frustrating. And, on the off chance that I find something that works and I save the brush, I flits off never to be found again. What the frak?!
Any tips you might have would be greatly appreciated - what settings do you use for the different stages of your painting? I'm sure I could/should be asking better questions, but right now I have to stamp my foot and walk away in a huff from my computer. Stupid painting not looking how I want it to....@#%&^/!!
By the by, I'd post an update, but it's just taken a turn for the worse and I'm trying to decide whether to go forward, or go back to the previously saved version before I did all the weirdening (yeah, that's a word dagnabit). Seriously, it's creeping me out a little. I think I need to not look at it for a while, lol.
If you happen to be in the states and in need of some art supplies, I highly recommend: Cheap Joe's Art Stuff.
I found them on the distributor list for Strathmore (my brand of sketchbook). For some reason, they don't process your order until 2 days after you place it, but then you receive your stuff two days after that, and everything is in pristine condition.

Okay, so that meme thing was just ridiculously long, and I didn't like it eating up my page like that, so I'm splitting the rest of the content up from it. Curious? Get your meme on!
Just popping in to say that I haven't disappeared again. I've just been dreadfully tired lately, I sleep like the undead.
Well, it's that and, netflix owns my soul....I so have to get a dvd player so I don't have to tie up my computer to watch a movie.
Anyway, I finally got a new sketchbook! Yay!! And, I went all art supply happy, got a bunch of stuff I probably don't need and won't ever use. Case in point - I have a manikin, lol. And, two kneaded erasers...one was way too tiny, so I ordered the other and it was ginormous! New pencils, blending stumps, a pencil case, a sketchbook case. Got some new art books too. Boy, I just had money to burn, huh?
Now, to see if I can find some drivers that will make my old scanner work on my new computer. Well, it's not so new anymore, but I haven't checked for drivers in a while, so...

Got this from `lockstock's journal. It's all her fault. Like her, I never do memes, I usually never even read them, but this one caught my eye. Ultimately, I'm doing it cause it features other artists, and that's always cool with me.

It has recently come to my attention that one of my DA buddies had something extremely cool happen!
A drawing did of author Neil Gaiman: is being sold on t-shirts from his website. If it sells well, they'll let her do more t-shirts. So, if you're a fan of that lovely creature Gaiman, go and get your spiffy t-shirt! Mysti says so! There's a nifty little video on the page where Neil tells the story behind the nickname. It happened months ago, but I'm just tickled pink for her.
I'm testing out this new css, working out the kinks as it were...
This is where I would put stuff if I had anything interesting to say right now, but I don't, so I didn't. Test, test testing...
Ah yes, I'm still plugging away on the little drawing that could. Maybe one day, I'll actually have something to show for my efforts.

Yes kiddies, it's that time of the year for ole Sandra the sloth to poke her head up out of her cocoon, see her shadow and go running back into the safety of said cocoon screaming like a banshee. Now, if that's not some imagery to inspire the mind, I don't know what is!
So, how the heck have you been? I hope a darn sight more productive than I have been, that's for sure! I think about drawing all the time.....just some sort of disconnect between the thoughts and actually doing something worthwhile. What sort of store can I go to get my art groove fixed? It's been broken lo these many years to my dismay.
Well, every once in a great while, I'll open up that drawing I started in (geez louise! was it that long a ago?) April and futz around with it. Maybe I'll upload an updated version to the scraps - the old one is in there too for the curious. Hmm....maybe it's the whole digital thing stopping me, I work so much better in pencil. Get thee to the art supply store woman! Must get sketchbook!!
Anyway, enough rambling.....though, I've got to share this story. If you ever wondered how bad things are at my job, wonder no more. Last week, one of my co-workers went to lunch and never came back! I'm still in shock that someone would actually do that, but she "went out for some air" and was never seen again. Nothing had even happened that day. I guess the air she went for was in front of her building.....she never did get really specific, lol. Add to that all the people currently talking about looking for other jobs or wishing for them, and you'll know the kind of shangri-la I'm dealing with. Calgon, take me away!
C'est tout, je suis fait. I hope you are all having a good time wherever you are.
